Android phones are coming in so thick and fast it’s tough for any one model to stand out by simply being a smartphone. The XPERIA PLAY is an Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) smartphone with a 4in display, so it’s quite large, but where it tries to stand out is by being the first PlayStation certified Android phone. That means when Sony launches its PlayStation Android games store later this year, the PLAY will be capable of running them.

As the longest-running licensee of Android, it’s only fitting that HTC also has the most polished smartphone for the platform. While we can’t single out any one feature that makes the Desire stand out from the pack, the combination of a sleek form factor, fast performance, solid battery life and gorgeous HTC Sense user interface makes it the best all-rounder in the Android camp.
